A World Bank mid-term review mission of the “Smart Government-2” project, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development Innovation and Communications (MDDIC) was carried out from September 25 to October 2 in Ulaanbaatar and Uvurkhangai province. The mission team met with key beneficiaries for assessing the project’s implementation progress, and discussed further plans to accelerate its implementation. During the visit, the delegation led by Mr. Taehyun Lee, World Bank Country Manager for Mongolia, and Mr. Siow Chew Kuek, Task Team Leader and Senior Digital Specialist, was officially received by Mr. E. Batshugar, Minister of MDDIC; Mr. Ch. Zolbayar, Acting State Secretary and Chair of the Project Steering Committee; Mr. D. Batbayar, Acting Director of the Digital Transformation Policy Coordination Department and Project Director; and Ms. B. Enkhdulguun, Project Coordinator, along with relevant officials. The parties exchanged views on strategies to expedite project implementation, addressed existing challenges, and discussed the next steps.
The World Bank mission team also held consultations with the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of Mongolia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the National Data Center, the “E-Mongolia Academy,” and State Procurement Agency, as well as with relevant experts and consultants. The discussions focused on the progress of priority sub-projects, budget utilization, and the overall performance of ongoing activities.
